The complex modern world demands the specialization of activity. This condition has permeated every part of our society, extending even to cultural endeavors. The artist most often exists exclusively as painter, sculptor, performer, et cetera; rarely are substantial connections made between various modes of expression. I am interested in exploring the relationship between seemingly different media. The work shown here begins a series dealing with the intersection of painting and sculpture. What traits do they share? How can one inform the other? And how can the boundary between them be blurred?
